Speaker Catherine Nixey
Heresy: Jesus Christ and the Other Sons of God
Speaker Catherine Nixey tells the stories of the many Jesuses in ancient texts and says that far from ‘In the beginning was the Word’ there were in fact many different saviours who faded from view because they were deemed unacceptable. The Times review of her recent book ‘Heresy – Jesus Christ and the other Sons of God’ says it explains how a single Christian truth emerged and how competing stories were eradicated; the review is controversially titled ‘Did Jesus sell his twin brother into slavery?’ Nixey’s talk promises to be a fascinating insight into perhaps the most influential person in all history.
Nixey is a journalist at the Economist. Her first book, The Darkening Age, won a Royal Society of Literature Jerwood Award and was an international bestseller translated into 15 languages.
