Our speaker for our last monthly meeting talk in 2024 is Jon Woodhouse. He joined the Army as a Musician at the age of sixteen and served in Her Majesty’s Lifeguards Band for 25 years. During his time with the Lifeguards band, Jon enjoyed a long and varied musical career playing clarinet (even on the back of a horse), bass clarinet, and saxophone at many high-profile events. He also participated in concert tours across Europe, America and Japan. In 1999 Jon retired from the Army, but still teaches, and can be seen playing in various local bands. Beyond music, Jon enjoys swimming, gardening, and travelling the world.
Jon will talk about the experiences and people he met during his long career. He will also cover the story of the Saxophone, and bring with him various Instruments which he will demonstrate.
