Following almost 18 months away from our home at West London Aero Club, we are finally back.
Maidenhead has a deep rooted history with aviation as highlighted by the Maidenhead Heritage Centre which features the ATA Museum having the Grandma flew Spitfires exhibition together with an operational Spitfire Simulator.
With so much of its population having an association with Heathrow, and/or the leisure flying and gliding at nearby White Waltham and Booker, Maidenhead continues today to have a strong affiliation with aviation. It is therefore rather surprising that it took so long for this underlying interest to emerge and form our u3a Aviation Group.
Our meetings are planned to offer both talks and visits, and address virtually any aspect of aviation, ranging from aviation history as covered at our inaugural meeting, to current operations at airports and their future expectations, and even hot air ballooning. Initially we will be governed by what is readily available and feasible but we expect to take full advantage of the access we expect to collectively gain to the RAF Museum Hendon, IWM Duxford, RAF Cosford, RAF Northolt and airshows within our range of access.
We welcome new members. New members need not have any past experience but we will be delighted to hear from anyone who might have some experience in this industry that they may possibly share with us.
