Challenging Ageism

By | 24/04/2024

Ageism is the most widespread form of discrimination in the UK.  Evidence shows that ageism causes significant harm to us all – as individuals, to the economy, to society and the way we view and interact with each other.  Many u3a members will have become victims of ageism as they grow older.

Kiran Ramchandani, the interim Director of Communications and Policy for the Centre for Ageing Better will talk about the Centre’s latest campaign on ageism and discussing why it’s a problem and what we should do about it.  Kiran will also discuss the other elements of the Centre’s work including homes, work and age friendly communities.

Kiran has been with the Centre for Ageing Better since November 2023 and is an experienced Policy and Communications Director across the charity sector, having worked for organisations such as Crisis and Citizens Advice.  Kiran is passionate about social justice and the power of campaigning.
